Two plasma‐initiated methods were used to initiate the polymerization of acrylamide. Experiments were made to study the relations between the polymers and the plasma‐initiated condition. The approximate molecular weight of the polymer was calculated by measuring the intrinsic viscosity of the polyacrylamide according to Chinese Standards. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
