A palladium complex of chicken feather was found to be active for the catalytic hydrogenation of anisol and benzaldehyde to give cyclohexyl methyl ether and cyclohexanecarboxaldehyde over 90% yields respectively at 80°C and under a atmospheric hydrogen pressure. The yields were greatly affected by the content of Pd in the chicken feather–palladium complex and by reaction temperature. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
