The effect of an alcoholic extract of P. cerasoides Bedd., A. muricata Linn., M. heyneana Thw. and P. nyctaginifolia Juss. on cold immobilization stress induced gastric ulceration was investigated in albino rats. All these indigenous drugs effectively protected stress induced gastric ulceration. However, of these drugs, the extract of P. cerasoides exhibited maximum gastric ulcer protective activity. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
