An effective screening method for antianaphylaxis was established using blood pressure (BP) monitoring in unanesthetized mice with an immediate hypersensitivity reaction system induced by hen egg‐white lysozyme (HEL). This method allows speedy and reproducible screening of antianaphylactic substances. Using this system, the antianaphylactic effect was estimated for the 35% ethanol extract (IB) of petals of Impatiens balsamina L. and the compounds isolated from Impatiens balsamina L. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
