The aqueous extract of Brickellia veronicaefolia inhibited gastric emptying time in rats and intestinal motility in mice, both effects were manifested in a dose‐related fashion. The crude extract inhibited the contractions induced by acetylcholine and histamine concentration‐dependently in the guinea‐pig ileum. In the castor oil diarrhoea test, the extract showed 90% protection from diarrhoea at 150 mg/kg.
