The lignan sesamin, the N ‐isobutylamide γ‐sanshoöl, the acridone alkaloids 1‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxy‐ N ‐methylacridone, arborinine and xanthoxoline, and the previously unreported 1‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxyacridone have been isolated by bioactivity‐guided fractionation (brine shrimp test) from the bark of the medicinal African plant Fagara macrophylla . © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
