We consider the two‐parameter non‐linear Sturm–Liouville problems. By using the variational method on general level sets, the variational eigenvalues are obtained. The purpose of this paper is to study the properties of these variational eigenvalues with respect to the parameter of general level sets. © 1998 B. G. Teubner Stuttgart—John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
