The non‐homogeneous magnetohydrodynamics equation is studied, with emphasis on the singularities due to Alfvén resonance. It is shown that for any arbitrary function defined on the singular set, there exists a unique solution of the problem coinciding with this function. Then the values on the singular set which correspond to the correct physical solution are determined proving that this is unique except for a discrete set of geometrical configurations. © 1997 B. G.
