Based on case research method an attempt has been made in this paper to analyze the transformation of a medium‐sized company in India. The analysis covers several aspects of transformation, such as challenges faced by the company and how they were resolved, the strategic choices made by the company and the characteristics of change process. The analysis shows that in spite of many external and internal challenges the company was successfully transformed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. and Cornwallis Emmanuel Ltd.
