A seven step synthesis of dibenzosuberenone 1 is presented in which [ 14 C]‐DMF is used in lieu of 14 CO 2 to prepare the carboxylic acid intermediate 8 . The advantages of this procedure over other commonly used methods is discussed. The title compound was obtained at a specific activity of 53 mCi/mmol (61% overall radiochemical yield).
