The resolution and quantitative determination of multicomponent chromatograms with noise were investigated using wavelet transform and window factor analysis (WFA). It was proved that wavelet transform is a very powerful technique for noise filtering and that quantitative results by WFA can be greatly improved for a noisy chromatographic data matrix by wavelet transform preprocessing. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
