Overnight melatonin levels were measured in five male schizophrenic patients on steady antipsychotic treatment following the addition of fluvoxamine. Melatonin secretion increased in the first week of treatment and progressively decreased after 3 weeks. The findings are consistent with the development of tolerance in the processes underlying melatonin secretion. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
