This issue contains a selection of papers from the Fifth European Workshop on Econometrics and Health Economics. The Workshop was held at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona on 11‐14 September 1996 and Guillem Lopez‐Casasnovas was the local organizer. The meeting was attended by 43 participants from 14 countries and the programme featured 14 papers, including a special session for presentations by doctoral students.
