The DSM‐IV reflects prevailing social values. It is biased against conventional female behaviour but ignores male stereotypes that are detrimental to self and society. Two new provisional personality disorders primarily observed in men are reported. Their inclusion in the DSM‐IV would have helped the balance the nosological categories, provide new diagnostic tools, and sensitize clinicians on issues of gender pathology.
