The hydrolysis of t Bu 2 Ge(OEt) 2 is described. Depending on the amount of water used either t Bu 2 Ge(OH) 2 ( 1 ) or a mixture of the latter and ( t Bu 2 GeOH) 2 O ( 2 ) were obtained. A cocrystallate consisting of 2 t Bu 2 Ge(OH) 2 , ( t Bu 2 GeOH) 2 O and water was the subject of a single crystal X‐ray diffraction study. In the solid state the individual molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds giving rise to the formation of a polymeric double chain ribbon.
