The ammonolysis of trichlorosilanes RSiCl 3 [R = CH(SiMe 3 ) 2 (1a) , Ph (1b) , Et (1c) ] leads to a series of condensed products such as six‐membered rings [(Me 3 Si) 2 CHSi(OH)NH] 3 (2a) and [PhSi(NH 2 )NH] 3 (2b) , disilazane [(Me 3 Si) 2 CHSi(NH 2 ) 2 ] 2 NH (3) and the cage compound (EtSi) 6 (NH) 9 (4) . The mixed Si−N−O compound 2a was obtained when liquid ammonia was not dried over sodium prior to use. The reaction with sodium gives NaCl instead of NH 4 Cl as a by‐product which is easily removed by filtration.
