The synthesis of new nitrido(phthalocyaninato)molybdenum ( 1 – 4 ) and ‐tungsten complexes ( 5 – 7 ) starting from the corresponding phthalonitriles and MNCl 3 (M = Mo, W) is reported. In addition, the reaction of ( t Bu 4 Pc)WN ( 6 ) with PPh 3 leading, after several steps, to the diamagnetic compound ( t Bu 4 Pc)WO ( 7 ) is described. The reaction of ( t Bu 4 Pc)ReN ( 9 ) with PPh 3 leads to [( t Bu 4 Pc)ReO] 2 ( 12 ), and of [(C 5 H 11 ) 8 Pc]ReN ( 10 ) with PPh 3 leads, under different conditions, to {[(C 5 H 11 ) 8 Pc]ReO} 2 O ( 11 ).
