New computer imaging software is described. CVIPtools illustrates principles of computer imaging and enables rapid development of complex algorithms. The easy‐to‐use graphical user interface makes available over 170 functions to students and artists, astronomers, geographers, and others who want to explore imaging but lack programming knowledge. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
