Abstract A graphical software environment for use as a classroom teaching tool in machine mechanisms classes of mechanical engineering students is described. The traditional static blackboard is replaced with a projected “electronic blackboard,” with a kinematic “intelligence” to interpret the sketches of linkages so that they behave as real dynamic linkages. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
