This paper describes a fast and flexible CAD tool for the wideband modeling of arbitrarily shaped three‐dimensional waveguide components. The algorithm is based on the evaluation of the poles and the residues of the Y‐parameters by the “boundary integral‐resonant mode expansion” (BI‐RME) method. Some examples demonstrate the efficiency and flexibility of the method. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 10: 183–189, 2000.
