The electromagnetic characteristics of ridged waveguides with dielectric slabs in the capacitance gap are analyzed using the numerical solver. Nonconventional filling of the gap is proposed in order to improve the bandwidth properties of the considered waveguiding structures. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
