Wideband operation of a microstrip‐fed slot antenna is achieved by arranging the slots in a log‐periodic manner. A nine‐element log‐periodic microstrip slot antenna array operating in the X ‐band is designed using the finite‐difference time‐domain method (FDTD). The FDTD results are verified by measurements, and a bandwidth of about 33% is attained. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 25: 24–27, 2000.
