Exponential function models already introduced in the literature for singular fields near perfectly conducting wedges are derived from conformal mapping. The performances of a numerical two‐step procedure based on conformal mapping and finite‐difference calculations are then discussed for axisymmetric geometries, in particular, for cone tips and for cone tips terminating with small spheres. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
