A new dual‐band antenna that uses coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures and which is suitable for MMIC applications is presented. The new design offers the flexibility of changing the frequency ratio between the upper and lower frequency bands, as well as designing for a single, but wide band. Two antennas have been implemented in the K a ‐band at X ‐band. Very good agreement between the simulation and measurements has been obtained. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
