A bandpass filter composed of a conventional combline filter and an attenuation pole resonator (APR) is investigated. The transmission zero of the combline filter combines with the attenuation pole of the resonator to perform the pseudoelliptic function filter response. Without any additional lump element or cross coupling, the filter demonstrates sharp roll‐off response over the passband edges. Compact size has also been accomplished due to the simple structure. The measured frequency response agrees well with the simulation results. It shows good performance capability for the application of wireless communication. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
