Recently, a new structure called photonic crystals has been receiving much attention. Applications have appeared in the fields of optic, microwaves, and antennas. In this paper, the effect of the variation in the dielectric constant for a two‐dimensional photonic crystal is analyzed. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 23: 92–95, 1999.
