The effect of the edge condition in the moment‐method solution of narrow slots in a rectangular waveguide is investigated, with particular reference to the longitudinal slot case. Entire‐domain basis and testing functions are used within the moment method to solve for the unknown tangential electric field on the aperture. Simulated results are found to be in good agreement with previous published results, as well as with simulations carried out using a finite‐element package. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
