The concept of a measured equation of invariance (TDMEI) is applied to construct a new kind of truncated boundary condition in the time domain. Because all of the coefficients in the boundary equations are determined numerically, this boundary can be posited at an arbitrary position coinciding with the shape of the object surface; thus, a conformable truncated boundary condition is obtained. Numerical examples show that the TDMEI can be applied freely in different coordinate systems. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 21: 414–417, 1999.
