Mutual coupling between two rectangular multisegment dielectric resonator antennas is investigated in both the E ‐ and H ‐planes. Spacing distances up to 4.5λ are considered, with comparisons made between numerical TLM simulations and experimentation. Good agreement is achieved, with representative plots presented. The investigation is restricted to examining the dominant TE 111 ‐mode, for which the radiation pattern resembles that of a magnetic dipole. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
