Closed‐form expressions have been reported for calculating the quasistatic line parameters of the coplanar waveguide (CPW) with different ground‐plane widths. The effect of the asymmetric configuration of the ground planes on the quasistatic parameters has been investigated by using the formulas obtained by the well‐known conformal mapping techniques. Comparisons have also been made between present results and the results available in the literature for the conventional CPW. It has been shown that the asymmetry of the ground planes leads to a significant change of the quasistatic parameters with respect to cases of finite and infinite ground planes. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
