Multiwavelength oscillation has been obtained in an erbium‐doped fiber laser. A double‐pass optical fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer is employed as a comb filter inside the laser cavity. To reduce the homogeneous linewidth, the erbium‐doped optical fiber was immersed in liquid nitrogen. Simultaneous oscillation of ten wavelengths is observed. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
