Heuristic UTD diffraction coefficients for an anisotropically loaded half plane illuminated at oblique incidence are obtained by generalizing the standard UTD diffraction coefficients for a perfectly conducting half plane and by neglecting the presence of surface waves. The principal axes of anisotropy can be not coincident with the edge. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 20: 143–146, 1999.
