The method of calculation of the H 11 ‐mode radiation from a circular waveguide with a plane logarithmic spiral in the aperture into a dielectric half space is presented. The calculations of radiation patterns and polarization characteristics for the various spiral parameters and permittivities of irradiated media have been carried out. It was established that there exists some set of the system parameters and wavelengths, for which the pattern widths and ellipticity coefficients ≥0.5 remain constant in the 40% frequency band. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
