Dual‐frequency operation of a single‐feed circular microstrip antenna with a pair of arc‐shaped slots is demonstrated. Typical designs of the proposed antenna with the frequency ratio of the two operating frequencies ranging from 1.38 to 1.58 are implemented and studied. The frequency ratio can easily be controlled by the arc‐shaped slot embedded in the patch, and the two operating frequencies are of parallel polarization planes and similar radiation characteristics. Details of the antenna design and experimental results are presented. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 19: 410–412, 1998.
