Using the single‐layer reduction (SLR) formulation, the slow wave on a multilayer microstrip is analyzed. New results on a suspended, shielded, and dielectric‐covered slow‐wave microstrip line are presented. The accuracy of the model has been tested against the spectral‐domain analysis (SDA) and the experimental results. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 19: 371–375, 1998.
