This letter presents a microwave‐imaging approach to the problem of evaluating the electromagnetic field distribution inside a model of the human head of a user during a personal mobile communication. After a brief presentation of the mathematical formulation, we focus the content of the paper on the applications of this technique in the biomedical domain. Considering a realistic 2‐D model, we obtained preliminary results showing the potentiality of the proposed imaging algorithm. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
