The single‐ and double‐shorted ring antennas with electromagnetic coupling to the feed line are presented. Their wideband and easy matching characteristics will be discussed, and a possible design criterion will be outlined. Experimental results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the large frequency band behavior, for the input parameters and the radiation patterns are presented. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
