A new, simple, and efficient technique for the accurate calculation of the one‐dimensional generalized exponential integral is presented. The method is very robust, suitable for even ultra‐thin wire antennas, which are of great interest for communications with submersible vehicles, for example. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
