In this paper, the mode‐matching (MM) method is used for the rigorous analysis of uniaxial anisotropic dielectric resonators (DRs), which are shielded in cylindrical cavities. Numerical results are presented for both the dominant TE 01δ and their higher order modes, and are shown to be in a very good agreement with the literature. Furthermore, the dependence of the resonant frequency on the different parameters characterizing the considered uniaxial anisotropic DRs are studied in depth. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
