The analysis of two innovative coplanar waveguide‐fed planar antennas, applying a simulation tool based on the finite‐difference time‐domain method (FDTD) in a nonuniformly discretized grid, is presented in this paper. A planar slot and inverted F ‐antenna are designed, realized, and tested. The influence of the coaxial connector required for the measurements is also examined. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
