In this paper, we demonstrate that Ewald's method can be employed to speed up the convergence of complex images as well as quasidynamic images in the spatial‐domain Green's function of planar periodic structures in layered media. A comparison of the convergence speed of Ewald's method versus spectral summation is given. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 19: 125–131, 1998.
