The design of a single‐feed, reduced‐size circularly polarized circular microstrip antenna with four slits equally spaced and inset at the boundary of the circular patch is experimentally investigated. Results show that by increasing the slits' lengths to be about 0.8 times the disk radius, the circular microstrip antenna can perform a circularly polarized radiation with a 50% antenna size reduction as compared to the conventional regular‐size CP design. Details of the experimental results are presented and analyzed. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 18: 394–397, 1998.
