A stacked dielectric resonator antenna (DRA), composed of an annular ring excited by a coaxial probe and two cylindrical dielectric resonators (CDRs), is studied experimentally for three‐frequency band operation. A maximum frequency ratio of 1.75 is achieved between higher and lower frequencies, and quite similar radiation patterns are obtained at two of the separate operating frequencies. The middle frequency band offers different radiating properties. A minimum 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 4.9% is performed. The return loss, radiation patterns, and antenna gain of this configuration are reported. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 18: 303–306, 1998.
