A new method for antenna pattern synthesis of linear arrays is described. The method is based on the application of the simulated annealing technique to achieve the excitations and/or the positions of the elements for a desired radiation pattern. Design specifications include sidelobe level, beamwidth, null control, and other parameters such as variation from starting excitations and/or positions. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
