In this paper, an algorithm for the numerical investigation of the generalized slot line having a polygonal cross section is proposed. Solution of the eigenmode problem is based on the method, called the domain product technique, which employs a Mathieu function expansion. A good agreement between the results obtained by the method and the published data of the other authors is established. Dispersion characteristics for some particular cases of the above transmission line are presented. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 16: 236–241, 1997.
