A theoretical model of a coplanar transmission line (CPW) port is developed in the frame of the method of moments (MoM). It is used to numerically analyze the magnetic formulation of the mixed potential integral equation (MPIE) for etched slots in planar multilayer structures. Two CPW‐fed slot circuits have been built and tested to establish the model accuracy. Simulated results agree well with measurements. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
