Thus far, a thin absorber with ferrite sometimes has been used in buildings to protect the broadcasting wave and microwave, for which absorbers were rather heavy. Materials composed of small grains of magnetic materials and resin were developed. This paper presents the grain size, the volume density, and the complex electric and magnetic constants of the material, shown in connection with the performance of the absorber. The performances are also compared with the theoretical values. These materials will be used not only for broadcasting, but also to protect the effects of the electrical equipment. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 16: 156–159, 1997.
