A probe‐fed equilateral triangular microstrip patch antenna mounted on a cylindrical body is analyzed based on a cavity‐model theory. Expressions for the far‐zone radiated field and input impedance of the antenna are derived, and numerical results as a function of the ground cylinder radius are calculated and analyzed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
