In this article the numerical method for extracting diffraction coefficients of wedge structures is extended to calculate diffraction coefficients of wedges with the corrugated surfaces for which no closed‐form expressions exist. Extensive numerical results are given, and they may be useful in design and engineering applications. We also provide some assessment of the diffraction coefficients of artificially soft surfaces derived more recently. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 15: 297–303, 1997
