In this communication we explore the possibilities of using magnetostatic resonators as inclusions for artificial magnetoelectric composites (as suggested by Kamenetskii). The appropriate form of effective constitutive relations is identified; the properties of eigenwaves and reflection and transmission coefficients in slabs are analyzed for uniaxial structures. Potential applications are briefly addressed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 15: 260–263, 1997.
